BASICS Name: Corrina Class: Healer -> Physician Weapons: Staves [C] Country: Kanemoria Age: 14 15 [16] 17 18 Birthday: February 26, 609 Zodiac: Pisces Blood Type: A+ Family: Susan, [Mother, motherknows], Gregory [Father], Lila [Sister, wild_axewoman], Robin [Brother, anywaythewind] Languages Known: Trade [A], Dentorian [A]

HISTORY As a child, Corrina was ever in her sister's shadow. Lila was stronger, bolder, and if her parents clucked their tongues and wondered why the girl couldn't be more like her younger sister, Corrina's earliest memories are of wanting to be her. So when her family left the Kanemorian countryside and settled in the countryside surrounding House Lireth, and her sister fought her way into training for the knighthood, she stood aside and quietly brooded that she could not find the strength to do the same.
Instead, she was charged with learning the staff like a proper lady, taught subservience and humility, manners and meekness, everything her sister wasn't. With Lila away more often than not for her training, and altogether gone once her position was secured, Corrina had little inspiration for resisting her mother's grooming; if anything, Lila's decisions only spurred her mother's ambition to ensure she turned out nothing like her sister, at all costs. And despite her sister's attempts to the contrary, Corinna had never quite learned to stand up for herself, and so she did as she was told, punctuated by moments of "defiance" during which she tried (and failed) to "do as Lila might have done."
It wasn't merely her studies her mother pursued with a nearly frightening single-mindedness; Lila's decisions were accounted almost completely to her tomboyish nature, her exposure to boys her own age, their lack of discouraging those things from the start. Thus Corinna was kept strictly from contact with boys, surrounded by dresses and dolls, spoiled and pampered and primped so that she might turn out to be the daughter her parents, her mother had always wanted.
She was fairly resigned to her fate, and even growing somewhat interested in her studies and more fond of the attentions than she knew -- despite secretly wishing for the talent, ambition and ability to join the knighthood, with her sister -- when her mother announced her ultimate plans; quiet, meek little Corinna, what better place for her than the clergy? And not just the clergy, but a tiny temple, isolated in the countryside, the perfect place to be shipped to and forgotten. Devoid of men, of course, their influence was apparently too much to be risked, even among priests.
In a flash, all of her pretty dresses, her expensive dolls, her baubles and jewelry and lace and furs, her teaparties with the girls her age deemed appropriate for the occasional playdate -- all of it would be gone, leaving her alone and forgotten, meek little Corrina, slaving away as a Sister until the end of time. She ran, fast if not far, to the one place she knew she would be understood -- Lila would surely pity her, hide her, save her. Her idealized memories of her elder sister proved unreliable, however, and though she was sent back, she still remains resolute in her refusal to join the clergy.
So adamant was her opinion on this matter, that after her mother's latest attempt to send her to a nearby Temple for training, Corrina ran away en route, striking out onto the roads of Dentoria on her own once again. Rather than running to her sister, mindful of the disaster that had come of the last time, she ran in the opposite direction; toward Kanemoria, the only other home she could recall. Before long, she was picked up by a seedy merchant calling himself Lord Alexander, who escorted her to Kanemoria -- only to sell her as a prostitute to the highest bidder in the city of Colndor.
The winning brothel, named Best Dress, introduced Corrina to a life of fake jewels and frayed silks, the true meaning behind the task of "entertaining men" utterly lost on her. She was trained in the arts of smalltalk, charming potential customers, while unbeknownst to her, her 'employer' sought to line his pockets with the fruits of a slightly less benign transaction. Before this could happen, however, the friends Corrina had been making through her magical journal rescued her; Fayre, a Kanemorian courtier paid for her freedom in full.
Indebted to her new friends -- most notably Terrance, a priest from Megam -- she joined their cause: accompanying the displaced Lords and Lady of House Franel across the continent in search of answers regarding their lost home. They promptly boarded a (rather shoddy) ship en route to Atsiria, where after a scuffle with a rogue pirate vessel, they were caught in the midst of a political cesspool in the city of Razen.
Eventually, their names were cleared and they were allowed to leave, close behind the woman who had saved them -- Melyndra, the mysterious Prophet of the Goddesses. They were taken to the city of Cleraine, where Corrina was reunited with her Aunt Lelani, her mother's sister. She stayed in her house for a time, until an unexpected earthquake rocked the city of Cleraine, collapsing her aunt's house and forcing them to seek refuge with the others in the Palace.
At about this time, Corrina -- a Pillar of Light, unbeknownst to most -- began to notice that Chiel, a thief and long-standing member of their group, seemed to be following her. She panicked, and went to Terrance, who by then she had begun developing romantic feelings for, despite the fact that he was already involved with Demi, another girl in their group. Terrance's advice was simply to act normal, and not to worry -- Chiel could be mean, he knew, but was harmless enough for all of that.
Some weeks later, just a week shy of her seventeenth birthday, Chiel -- a Messenger of Darkness, unbeknownst to anyone -- caught Corrina alone in her room in the Palace, and killed her.

PERSONALITY Corrina was mostly a weak-willed girl, her opinions molded almost entirely by her mother, Susan, who taught her what to say and how to think, what to dress in and how to behave. Corrina sometimes resented this, leading to occassional tantrums and shows of independence (modeled after the obstinance of her sister, Lila, whom she idolized) -- the most recent of which led to her leaving home in the first place.
She was quite spoiled, even if she didn't quite realize it. Susan sought more than anything else to keep her safe, which meant shielding her from the outside world in as many respects as possible, and babying her well into her teenage years. As a result, Corrina acted quite young for her age, and was somewhat scared of most men (save her brother and her father, of course, and later Terrance and a few others among her newfound friends.)
Still, though painfully naive and easily cowed and manipulated, Corrina kept up an upbeat and cheerful personality, always attempting to look on the bright side and help where she could. Her journey with Terrance and the others allowed her to grow in ways she never really managed, under Susan's careful scrutiny. Her tantrums disappeared, and she remained a sunny, agreeable, and mostly well-mannered girl until her death.

APPEARANCE Corrina was short and slight of frame, and small for her age, standing at only 5'2". Her eyes were blue, and her hair was very long, and very blonde. She often wore it up in pigtails, making her seem much younger than she actually was. She kept her preference for elaborate dresses and accessories, though her situation placed her in plainer clothes while traveling, typically simple whites.
